HSLS in Action: History of Medicine
HSLS has a significant collection of print materials supporting the historical research into medicine’s past. It includes the circulating collection of books devoted to scholarship on different aspects of medicine as well as the protected collection of primary resources to study the history and development of medical sciences—the medical books published before 1945. The latter is the only multilingual collection of books at HSLS. Though the oldest materials—the rare books printed before 1700—are stored separately to get an extra layer of security, they are still accessible by appointment and can be used in the Rare Book Room. Your donation could support our efforts to repair, preserve, and conserve some of the most frequently requested volumes from the vault, so they can be safely used by the next generation.
