Do you use Exam Master to prepare for licensure and certification exams such as USMLE, PANCE/PANRE, NCLEX, or NAPLEX – or to review biomedical and clinical science subjects?
Starting July 1, 2026, logging into Pitt’s Exam Master will require multifactor authentication (also called two-factor authentication) in addition to a valid Pitt or UPMC email address. Multifactor authentication provides greater account security and better protects personal data, versus logging in with your email address and password alone.
Upon logging in, existing Exam Master users must choose a preferred method of authentication – either a valid Pitt/UPMC email address or an authenticator app. For the greatest account security, HSLS recommends using an authenticator app. For Pitt users, HSLS recommends that you use Duo, which is currently supported by Pitt Digital. New Exam Master users will be prompted to choose their preferred authentication method after registering for an account. Simply pick your preferred method and click “Enable.”
If you choose the Duo authenticator app:
- Download the Duo app to your phone or mobile device (if not already installed).
- Click “Add +” and then choose “Use QR code” to add your Exam Master account.
- Scan the QR code on the Exam Master screen and follow the Duo app’s instructions.
- Duo will generate a 6-digit code.
- Enter the code into the verification field on the Exam Master screen.
- Click “Confirm and Activate.”
- A list of back-up codes will also be generated. Save these in a secure location to use to access your Exam Master account if you lose access to your phone or the Duo app.
(The instructions above may differ if you use another authenticator app.)
If you choose your Pitt/UPMC email address as your authentication method, the 6-digit code will be sent to your email.
Once you are set up for multifactor authentication, log in and enjoy the newly added Medical Terminology Item Bank, in addition to all that Exam Master has to offer!
