Access Graphic Design Principles*

Curious about how the principles of graphic design could help you improve your graphics, illustrations, and visualizations? This module will run you through the basics and give examples of how you can apply them.

Upon completing this class, you should be able to:

  • List and describe several basic principles of graphic design, including white space, balance, contrast, and emphasis
  • Explain how to intentionally choose a color palate
  • Explain how to intentionally choose a font/typeface
  • Explain how following graphic design principles can help you to more effectively and accurately communicate a message
  • Apply basic principles of graphic design to a graphic
  • List a few best practices in creating graphics that are accessible
  • List a few useful tools for checking the accessibility of your graphic
  • Identify and repair accessibility issues in graphics
