HSLS Self-Paced Learning Now Available

HSLS is now offering self-paced learning modules on many of the topics we regularly teach. Don’t worry, we’re not getting rid of our HSLS live classes – you’ll still be able to learn from your favorite HSLS instructors over Zoom and in person. We’re simply adding an additional option. We hope you’ll check out our new modules and let us know what you think!

Why choose to take an HSLS self-paced learning module?

  • If you need to learn a skill immediately and can’t wait for a class to be offered.
  • If the HSLS live class you’re interested in is offered at a time you’re not available.
  • If you prefer to learn at your own pace before reaching out to a librarian with questions.

What does an HSLS self-paced learning module look like?

Each module starts by listing the skills it is designed to help you learn, and then leads you through a logical sequence of activities – tailored to the Pitt health sciences audience – to help you learn those skills. You will find a mix of text, images, videos, and activities.

How can you get started with self-paced learning at HSLS?

Start at Learn @ HSLS, filtered to see only topics with self-paced learning modules available. Read through and find a topic that sounds interesting, and click on that topic. Next, on the topic page, scroll to the HSLS Self-Paced learning section, and click on “Access this module” under the module that you’d like to try! Then, follow the instructions on the next page to get started. You’ll need to enroll in our HSLS Self-Paced Learning Canvas site if it’s your first time accessing one of our modules; after that, you’ll be able to go straight to the module you want.
