MLA | SLA ’23 Annual Meeting Participation

The Medical Library Association held its Annual Meeting with the Special Libraries Association, MLA | SLA ’23, both virtually and in person in Detroit, Michigan, May 16-19, 2023. Congratulations to those from HSLS who participated in and contributed to the meeting:

Presentations

Michele Klein Fedyshin, Research and Clinical Instruction Librarian, presented “The Redesigned Core Clinical Journals Filter: What It Is, How to Use It, and Why to Use It.”

Rebekah Miller, Research and Instruction Librarian, presented “Developing and Validating the Nursing Student Misinformation Attitudes, Confidence, and Knowledge Assessment Tool.” Co-authors were Theresa Koleck, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, and Urszula Lechtenberg, University of Pittsburgh University Library System.

Sessions

Kelsey Cowles, Research and Instruction Librarian, Rebekah Miller, Research and Instruction Librarian, and Rachel Suppok, Research and Instruction Librarian, led the virtual immersion session “Seeing Isn’t Believing: Identifying Visual Health Misinformation and Results from a Pilot Class.”

Rose Turner, Assistant Director for Liaison Services and Instruction, served as a session moderator for Education Papers Session 3.

Lightning Talk

Melissa Ratajeski, Assistant Director for Data and Publishing Services, was a co-author of the lightning talk “The DMPTool NIH Template Project: Policy Analysis, Practical Implementation,” presented by Nina Exner, Virginia Commonwealth University. Committee Participation

Rose Turner, Assistant Director for Liaison Services and Instruction, served as a member of the National Program Committee. Turner also volunteered as a judge for research papers and posters.
