Kate Flewelling, MAR Executive Director, was featured in a National Library of Medicine In Focus article titled “Where are they now? The 2007-2008 NLM Associate Fellows…10 Years On.”

Carrie Iwema, Coordinator of Basic Science Services, was appointed to the Medical Library Association’s Annual Meeting Innovation Task Force for a 3-year term.

Michael Balkenhol has joined HSLS as Health Programming Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region. He received his MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. Prior to being hired at HSLS, Balkenhol was a Children’s & Teen Librarian at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.

Kirsten Crowhurst has joined the Training and Education Center (TEC) team as the Program Manager. She has a BA in International Studies and Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Crowhurst will be starting a Master of Public Health degree program at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health in the fall.

Amos Glenn has joined the Training and Education Center (TEC) team as the Instructional Designer. He has worked in education for 20 years and has a Doctorate from Duquesne University in Instructional Design and Technology. After working with Carnegie Mellon University’s Simon Initiative, Glenn has been active in the development of the new field of Learning Engineering. Prior to joining the TEC, he worked at the School of Medicine’s Institute for Clinical Research Education.

Rebekah Miller has joined HSLS as a Research & Instruction Librarian. She received her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. Prior to being hired at HSLS, Miller was the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Librarian at Gumberg Library, Duquesne University.
