LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that enables easy, one-click access to HSLS electronic resources. This is beneficial for Pitt users who prefer to conduct searches on the web, rather than at the HSLS webpage. With LibKey Nomad, you are able to quickly download PDFs from many publisher websites, PubMed, Web of Science, and more. Those familiar with the Reload via HSLS bookmarklet will be pleased by LibKey Nomad’s success at finding articles.
Once installed, users will see LibKey Nomad buttons while browsing for resources. These are the most common buttons users will see:
Download PDF means that the library has access to this PDF. Click the button to go directly to the article and download the PDF version.
Article Link means that the library has this item. Click the button to be directed to the article page for access to either the HTML or PDF version of the article.
Access Options means that the library may not have this item, but it can be requested via Document Delivery. Clicking the button will take you to PittCat where you can find more information about the item. Signing in to Pitt Passport allows users to place a request via their PittCat account. You can also use the HSLS Document Delivery service to request the item.
View Complete Issue will bring you to Browzine where you can view the table of contents of the journal issue in which the article was published, letting you see recent research on related topics.
The LibKey Nomad browser extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Safari, and Vivaldi, and can be downloaded from ThirdIron’s website. Please note that the browser extension can be added and set up anywhere, whether you are on or off campus. Once the extension has been added, you will be asked to select an institution. Select “University of Pittsburgh.” LibKey Nomad is now set up. Information regarding ThirdIron’s privacy policy is available at their website.
