This hands-on workshop will cover the creating visualization of data using the ggplot2 package in R. Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • create various graphical summaries of data
  • describe the “grammar” of ggplot2 functions
  • build custom visualizations with ggplot2

Target Audience:

R users who already have a working understanding of the basic functionality of R and working with data in R. Prior to taking this course, participants should be able to use R to:

  • perform simple calculations
  • identify and compare data types
  • use existing functions
  • write simple functions
  • load external packages
  • import and export data
  • merge datasets
  • transform data
  • create basic summaries of data

A follow-up session (11 am – 12:30 pm) will review the hands-on exercise questions distributed during the workshop one week after this class (March 16th).
