Celebrate DNA Day Online: April 24 & 25

We are joining in the celebration of the anniversary of the discovery of the structure of the DNA molecule – known as DNA Day! Officially on April 25th, DNA Day events this year will mainly be on Friday April 24th and Saturday April 25th. Here are 4 ways that you can join pgEd in taking part.

1) Check us out on Twitter – We will be sharing some new and updated pgEd resources via Twitter, as well as jumping in to highlight the work of others related to the scientific, social and ethical dimensions of personal genetics. Follow along at @pgEDorg, we will be using the hashtag #DNADay2020.

2) Join us and our friends at PBS Books on Facebook Live – On Friday April 24th at 2pm EST, pgEd’s Nadine Vincenten will be participating in a nationwide Facebook Live event with teens and tweens, fielding their questions and sharing some of her knowledge, thanks to our friends at PBS Books.

3) Teachers, attend an online workshop – On Saturday April 25th, pgEd’s Robin Bowman will be leading a two-hour workshop with 100 educators from the New York State Master Teachers Program. This event is already at capacity, but we have more workshops planned in April and May. Check out our calendar and sign up today!

4) And much more to check out!  We will also be following along and joining the conversations online. Events include HudsonAlpha’s GeneChat (9am – 2pm CDT/10am – 3pm EDT on April 24th, which will wrap up with Q&A with Dr. Neil Lamb) as well as the Decolonize DNA Day Twitter conference (also on April 24th, beginning at 9am EST and concluding with a keynote at 5pm EST by Dr. Keolu Fox).
