The word “Hackathon” brings up images of teenagers gathered over laptops surrounded by pizza boxes, but the September Open Hackathon hosted by the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, Pitt and CMU promises to be something very different:

PIs with active projects will be paired in peer-to-peer engagement with domain experts that meet their specific research needs, as well as representatives from NVIDIA and OpenACC.

This hands-on, collaborative coding event is intended to help computational scientists and researchers port, accelerate, and optimize their applications on modern data center architectures, including CPUs and GPUs.

The event pairs participants with dedicated, expert programming mentors to realize performance gains and speedups using a variety of programming models, libraries, and tools.

This hackathon is open to everyone looking to take their projects to the next level. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts.
