Can I access Wi-Fi in Falk Library?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, there is wireless connectivity throughout the library. In order to use the Wireless PittNet, you must have a valid <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/email.html\" target=\"_blank\">University of Pittsburgh Computer Account<\/a> and install the University provided <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/network-web\/wireless.html\" target=\"_blank\">wireless security software<\/a> on your laptop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Where can I find databases, such as PubMed and UpToDate, and other electronic resources such as e-books and e-journals?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go to the HSLS Web site at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu<\/a>. Frequently accessed databases are located in the Quick Links box on the right side of the home page. An alphabetic list of all databases is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/databases\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/databases<\/a>. E-journals are listed alphabetically and by subject at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/journals\/e-journals\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/journals\/e-journals<\/a> and e-books are listed by subject at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/books\/ebooks\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/resources\/books\/ebooks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. How do I access electronic resources from home? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have a <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/email.html\" target=\"_blank\">Pitt Computer Account<\/a>, use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.library.pitt.edu\/offcampus\" target=\"_blank\">EZproxy<\/a>. If you are affiliated with UPMC, use <a href=\"https:\/\/accesshelp.upmc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">UPMC Access<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. How can I print at Falk Library?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From any Pitt computer or Falk Library circulating laptop, select the Pitt Self-Service printer. On your personal laptop, download the <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/support\/installing-the-pitt-printing-client\" target=\"_blank\">Pitt Printing Client<\/a>. At Falk Library, bring your Pitt ID to the upper floor to release your printouts from the print station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Do you have MacBooks, headphones, or phone charging cords to check out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/services\/technology\" target=\"_blank\">Technology Help Desk<\/a> circulates all of those items, plus more! Most technology equipment can be checked out for 4 hours and renewed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/services\/technology\/renew\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a>. Items can leave the library but must be returned before closing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. How do I know if you have an e-book, e-journal, or a print book or journal?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use <a href=\"http:\/\/pittcat.hsls.pitt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">PITT<i>C<\/i>at<\/a>, the library\u2019s online catalog, or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pitt Resources Quick Search<\/a> box. You can find e-books, e-journals, print books and journals, and other types of materials. You WILL NOT find articles in PITT<em>C<\/em>at or Pitt Resources Quick Search.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. What can I do if you don\u2019t have a journal or book that I need?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/services\/documentdelivery\" target=\"_blank\">HSLS Document Delivery Service<\/a> provides copies of journal articles, book chapters, and can order other items such as books. The service is available to faculty, students, and staff of the University of Pittsburgh schools of the health sciences, as well as UPMC residents and fellows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Where is there a quiet place to study?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The quietest place to study in the library is the \u201cfishbowl.\u201d Once you enter the library, make a right and continue to the area enclosed in glass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Are there group study rooms available? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are eight group study rooms. You can check the online <a href=\"http:\/\/hsls.pitt.edu\/groupstudy\" target=\"_blank\">Group Study Room<\/a> schedule for availability. Requests for group study rooms can be made online three days in advance.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that this answers some of your basic questions.
