Start by clicking the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/services\/remote\">Remote Access link<\/a> on the upper-right corner of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/\">HSLS home page<\/a>. If you are a Pitt user, choose Secure Remote Access, or if you are a UPMC user, choose Connect@UPMC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pitt \u2013 Secure Remote Access<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Once on the <a href=\"https:\/\/sremote.pitt.edu\">Secure Remote Access<\/a> page, enter your University Computer Account username and password.<\/li>\n<li>If you are connecting for the first time, you may see a pop-up box asking you to allow Juniper Networks to run. Select <strong>Allow<\/strong>.<a href=\"http:\/\/sremote.pitt.edu\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5039 alignright\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/sremote-300x205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/sremote-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/sremote.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Once connected, select <strong>Health Sciences Library System<\/strong> from the Web bookmarks.<\/li>\n<li>You will be redirected to the HSLS home page. You now have access to HSLS databases and can view, save, and print articles from HSLS e-journals.<\/li>\n<li>Secure Remote Access is monitored by the Pitt Technology Helpdesk: browse the <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/network-web\/off-campus\/secure-remote.html\">online information<\/a> or call 412-624-4357 for help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPMC \u2013 Connect@UPMC<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0If you are using <a href=\"https:\/\/connect.upmc.com\">Connect@UPMC<\/a> for the first time, you will need to talk to your UPMC department administrator to set up an account.<\/li>\n<li>When your Connect@UPMC account has been set up, you can login with your UPMC Network Username.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Internet Explorer<\/strong> in the set of Applications.<\/li>\n<li>From the <em>Favorites<\/em> menu, select <strong>UPMC<\/strong>, and then <strong>Health Sciences Library<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You will be redirected to the HSLS home page. You now have access to HSLS databases and can view and print articles from HSLS journals.<\/li>\n<li>Saving journal articles to your computer\u2019s hard drive can be problematic; try instead to save to another location, like a flash drive.<a href=\"https:\/\/connect.upmc.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5041\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/Connect-300x77.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"77\" srcset=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/Connect-300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2011\/08\/Connect.jpg 702w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Connect@UPMC is monitored by the UPMC ISD helpdesk: browse the <a href=\"http:\/\/connect2.upmc.com\">online information<\/a> or call 412-647-4357 for help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Having problems?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are searching for an article, and you are prompted for a user name and password, either:\n<ul>\n<li>You didn\u2019t sign in remotely\u2014follow the steps above for Pitt or UPMC.<\/li>\n<li>You are trying to access a journal that is not included in the HSLS online collection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If your username and password are invalid:\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure you are using you Pitt username and password (same as your my.pitt.edu login) or your UPMC Network username and password. You cannot use your HSLS Computer Account for Remote Access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you cannot connect to remote access from the above steps:\n<ul>\n<li>Several browsers and devices currently do not support Remote Access. Check the requirements for <a href=\"http:\/\/technology.pitt.edu\/Documents\/network\/secure-remote-access\/Secure_VPN_Web_Mode.pdf\">Secure Remote Access<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/connect2.upmc.com\/instructions\/connectinfo.htm\">Connect@UPMC<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can always contact someone from HSLS for help, either through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsls.pitt.edu\/askalibrarian\">Ask-A-Librarian<\/a>, or by calling the CMC Help Desk at 412-648-9109.
