As announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/notice-files\/NOT-OD-26-046.html\">Notice NOT-OD-26-046<\/a>, <em>Updated Elements of an NIH Data Management and Sharing Plan<\/em>\u00a0(which supersedes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/notice-files\/NOT-OD-21-014.html\">NOT-OD-21-014<\/a>), applications with due dates on or after <strong>May 25, 2026<\/strong> must use a new, <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants-process\/write-application\/forms-directory\/data-management-and-sharing-plan-format-page\">simplified brief form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NIH is implementing this updated DMSP format as a pilot and will assess the need for additional updates over the next year.<\/p>\n<p>The form consists of five Yes\/No questions (six, if the project is subject to the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy) and a table limited to 100 words. <!--more-->The table should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The scientific data expected to be generated during the project, including the species and modality, when known (e.g., <em>\u201chuman genomic data,\u201d \u201crat functional magnetic resonance imaging data\u201d), <\/em>and<\/li>\n<li>The repository, or an example of a repository, where the listed scientific data may be managed and shared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17943\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17943\" style=\"width: 532px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17943\" src=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/updatereport\/files\/2026\/04\/data-table.jpg\" alt=\"A basic two-column table, with headers for each column.
