Nancy Tannery<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As Senior Associate Director at HSLS and then as Assistant Provost, Nancy Tannery made a tremendous impact on the lives of so many at the University of Pittsburgh. Your gift to honor her legacy builds upon her family\u2019s generosity. By choosing to name a space at Pitt in her memory, Nancy\u2019s family has ensured that her name will continue to be synonymous with collaboration, education, and innovation for generations to come.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Celebrating her dedication to Pitt and her collaborative spirit, the Nancy Tannery Conference Room in Falk Library will be a place where colleagues and students can come together to advance innovative ideas and discuss important topics. This space will bear Nancy\u2019s name and will include a physical plaque recognizing her and her contributions to Pitt. The conference room will be reservable and will serve as host to group meetings and intimate gatherings. When the library staff who worked with Nancy during her time at Pitt were asked where they thought it was most appropriate to recognize Nancy\u2019s contributions, this is the space that they thought of first.<\/p>\n

Endowment funds from the Nancy Tannery Memorial Fund<\/a> will be used to foster professional development, enhance engagement, and promote camaraderie among HSLS colleagues, ensuring that Nancy\u2019s legacy lives on in our HSLS team.<\/p>\n

HSLS in Action: Staff Development Day<\/h3>\n

The impact of these endowment funds was demonstrated during our December 1, 2023, inaugural Nancy Tannery Memorial Staff Development Day<\/strong>. It was a day devoted to empowering our team, fostering unity, and nurturing individual and collective growth. The event encompassed:<\/p>\n

  1. Engaging staff presentations showcasing projects and departmental achievements,<\/li>\n
  2. Immersive team-building exercises aimed at fostering collaboration and camaraderie, and<\/li>\n
  3. A culminating philanthropic endeavor where our team assembled 100 weekend food bags for underprivileged children, to be distributed in partnership with the United Way.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These activities underscore our commitment to utilizing endowment funds to advance the professional development, engagement, and morale of our health sciences library staff. We are privileged to commemorate Nancy’s legacy through such meaningful initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
