Expanding the HSLS E-Book Collection

HSLS recently purchased a collection of nearly 60 new e-books in a variety of health sciences disciplines and specialties. The new e-books are available on the Ovid platform and include:

  • 5-Minute Clinical Consult Standard 2015
  • Clinical Epidemiology: The Essentials, 5th edition
  • Clinical Practice of Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing, 7th edition
  • Lippincott’s Manual of Psychiatric Nursing Care Plans, 9th edition
  • Mastery of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 3rd edition

This is part of our ongoing effort to expand our e-book collection. HSLS also provides access to ClinicalKey, which includes nearly 1,200 clinical reference e-books and a variety of other content. HSLS also continues to add new e-books from numerous other platforms and publishers. Other recent e-book purchases include:

  • Concepts in Clinical Pharmacokinetics, 6th edition
  • How to Read a Paper: The Basics of Evidence-Based Medicine, 5th edition
  • Medical Language: Terminology in Context
  • Pharmacology and Therapeutics for Dentistry, 6th edition

Other popular e-books include:

  • Clinical Anesthesia, 7th edition
  • Evidence-Based Geriatric Nursing Protocols for Best Practice, 4th edition
  • Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, 12th edition
  • Trauma Manual: Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, 4th edition

Unlike online journals and many databases, the number of users who can access a particular e-book at the same time varies by platform and title. If you are turned away from an e-book that’s already in use, please try again after a short while. You might also check whether HSLS offers the same (or similar) e-book on another platform. Popular e-book titles available on multiple platforms include:

  • Basic Immunology: Functions and Disorders of the Immune System, 4th edition
  • Medical Interview: Mastering Skills for Clinical Practice, 5th edition
  • Only EKG Book You’ll Ever Need, 7th edition
