Information was current at time of publication.{"id":505,"date":"2013-08-22T14:24:04","date_gmt":"2013-08-22T19:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/?p=505"},"modified":"2013-08-22T14:56:34","modified_gmt":"2013-08-22T19:56:34","slug":"postdoc-talks-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/2013\/08\/22\/postdoc-talks-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Postdoc Talks Schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: blue;font-size: medium\">NEW Workshop Series<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Molecular Biology Information Service (MBIS) of the Health Science Library System (HSLS) and the Center for Postdoctoral Affairs in the Health Sciences are pleased to announce a new &#8220;how to&#8221; workshop series taught by biomedical postdocs at the University of Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location: Falk Library Classroom 2 (upstairs)<br \/>\nWorkshops will last 1-2 hours.<br \/>\nRegistration is NOT required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: red\">August<\/span>    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>28th (10:30 am)<\/strong>:  Varsha Shridhar:  &#8220;Visualizing methylation profiles on UCSC Genome Browser &amp; correlation of methylation w\/expression data&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: red\">September<\/span>  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9th (10:30 am)<\/strong>:  Teresa Liu:  &#8220;DNA\/RNA immunoprecipitation &amp; next generation sequencing&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>17th (1 pm)<\/strong>:  Tejas Tirodkar:  &#8220;How to process histology images in Photoshop&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: red\">October<\/span>  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st (3 pm)<\/strong>:  Lisa Gurski:  &#8220;Choosing the best 3D matrix for your cell culture needs&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>10th (12 pm)<\/strong>:  Emily Wickline:  &#8220;How to prepare a CV (grad students &amp; postdocs)&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>17th (10 am)<\/strong>:  Ethan Block:  &#8220;Adding mechanistic insight through signal transduction research&#8221;\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Modeled after the MBIS workshops, postdoc instructors are encouraged to teach a 1-2 hour workshop to a class of no more than 24 attendees. The specific topic is up to the discretion of the postdoc, but is a &#8220;how to&#8221; style talk rather than a seminar.
