Rather, it is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/GenomeTV\">YouTube Channel<\/a> for the National Human Genome Research Institute (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/\">NHGRI<\/a>), a part of the National Institutes of Health (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nih.gov\/\">NIH<\/a>). This collection of video resources about genetics and genomics is arranged into six broad categories, with content dating back to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=slRyGLmt3qc\">human genome announcement<\/a> at the White House in 2000. When available, PowerPoint slides accompany the videos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/files\/2015\/11\/YouTubeStill-515x289.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/files\/2015\/11\/YouTubeStill-515x289.png\" alt=\"YouTubeStill-515x289\" width=\"515\" height=\"289\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1777\" srcset=\"https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/files\/2015\/11\/YouTubeStill-515x289.png 515w, https:\/\/info.hsls.pitt.edu\/molbio\/files\/2015\/11\/YouTubeStill-515x289-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Content includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Workshops and Meetings:<\/strong> recordings of NHGRI\/NIH scientific workshops\/meetings exploring data and policy issues, clinical approaches, and the latest research.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symposia:<\/strong> playlists from specialized sessions covering the research and accomplishments of specific NHGRI programs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education and Training:<\/strong> a variety of tutorials and education resources dedicated to informing students, teachers, researchers, and the public.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lectures:<\/strong> individual and series of lectures intended to share current genetics and genomics research and impact.<\/li>\n<li><strong>News and Documentary:<\/strong> news about significant discoveries and documentaries explaining NHGRI projects and initiatives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NHGRI Advisory Council:<\/strong> videos from the three annual open sessions of the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Content is continually updated and provides users access to information that they would not otherwise discover. For example, thirty videos, slide sets, and PDFs are available from the three-day hands-on workshops of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/27561910\">ENCODE 2015: Research Applications and Users Meeting<\/a>. Also available are twenty-four videos from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/27561703\">4th Annual Scientific Symposium of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)<\/a>. Additionally, two videos from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL1ay9ko4A8snvPdEdDmn-Pkz1rhOQswZ6\">2015 NHGRI Summer Workshop in Genomics: Nursing Faculty and Educators<\/a> are accessible. As a final example, every two years NHGRI sponsors and posts content for the lecture series <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/27535262\">Current Topics in Genome Analysis<\/a>, which reviews the latest advances in genomics and bioinformatics; the next session begins early 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these videos were created and produced by Genome Productions, of NHGRI\u2019s Communications and Public Liaison Branch. They may be freely copied and distributed; but an appropriate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/27552689\">acknowledgement<\/a> is requested.
