History of Medicine
Falk Library’s Special and Historical Collection continues to be a focal point of the library, attracting visitors to see rare and interesting books, manuscripts, artifacts, and other items within our collection.
In FY 23, Special Collections and History of Medicine received 47 visitors and researchers, including undergraduate Science & Literature classes. The collection is regularly featured in the HSLS Update in a column titled Treasures from the Rare Book Room.
The History of Medicine Collection has successfully provided historical information, photos, high-quality digital images, media clips, and other support documentation for a wide variety of University initiatives across the schools of the health sciences, the larger University community, and medical researchers across the nation.
Of special note in FY 23 was securing the Osial Collection, adding over 200 well-preserved, historically significant books to the History of Medicine Collection’s existing materials on gout and rheumatism.
