Kate Flewelling, NNLM MAR Executive Director, was elected Chair-Elect of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association. Flewelling was also accepted to Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs to pursue the Master of Public Policy and Management.

Veronica Leigh Milliner, NNLM MAR All of Us Community Engagement Coordinator, was appointed to the Children and Technology Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children within the American Library Association for a two-year term.

Publications

Jonathon Erlen, History of Medicine Librarian, publishedLatest Dissertations from 78-04 A and B” in The History of Science Society Newsletter, October 2018, and along with Jay Toth, published “PhD Dissertations from Universities around the World on Topics Relating to Indians in the Americas, Compiled from Dissertation Abstracts” in the Indigenous Policy Journal, 29(4), 2018.

Presentations

Lydia N. Collins, Participant Engagement Lead of the All of Us Training & Education Center (TEC), presented “Applying Cultural Humility to Teaching and Learning” at the National Network of Libraries of Medicine All of Us Research Program Cultural Humility and Instructional Design Workshop in Salt Lake City, UT, on November 8, 2018. Co-presenters were Rachel Gatewood, Instructional Designer, and Remzi Kizilboga, Instructional Technologist/Curriculum Specialist, both from the National Training Office, All of Us Research Program.

Kate Flewelling, NNLM MAR Executive Director, presented “NLM and NNLM—Your Partners in Health!” at the Annual Meetings of the NY/NJ and Mid-Atlantic Chapters of the Medical Library Association on October 24 and 29, 2018.

Veronica Leigh Milliner, NNLM MAR All of Us Community Engagement Coordinator, presented “Precision Medicine: The Future of Health Begins with You” at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s (Woods Run Branch) Health and Wellness Day on October 27, 2018. Co-presenter was All of Us Pennsylvania Community Engagement Coordinator Erin Saltmarsh. Milliner also presented “The ABCs of DNA: Unraveling the Mystery of Genetics Information for Consumers” for the public library members of the Allegheny County Library Association on November 1, 2018, and presented a preconference at the New York Library Association called “The All of Us Research Program and Public Libraries” on November 7, 2018.

Newman presented “Impact of Community Pharmacist-Led Interventions in Chronic Disease Management on Clinical, Utilization, and Economic Outcomes: An Umbrella Review” at the American Public Health Association 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo in San Diego, CA, on November 10, 2018. Co-authors were A. San-Juan-Rodriguez, N. Parekh, E.C.S. Swart, M. Klein-Fedyshin, Research and Clinical Instruction Librarian, et al.
